Jocelyn Paine is one of the more interesting thinkers about evolving spreadsheets. Here's some recent stuff about components in Google Sheet.

Hi Phil, and thanks for the compliment! Anyone reading this: what spreadsheet components would you like to see? Tell me at popx@j-paine.org, and I'll try to add them to my demo.

Hi again,

I am declaring my Spreadsheet Parts Repository open. It's a free service for Excel and Google Spreadsheets users, which will provide tested and documented formula groups that you can download into your own spreadsheets. So, basically, it's a descendant of the stuff about components in Google Sheet that Phil mentioned. Please try the demonstrations; and you might like my Dr Dobbs blog posting about it. The general idea is to avoid what this cartoon shows!
